What is the NCLEX-RN?
The NCLEX-RN, or the National Council Licensure Examination, is the standardised test that all aspiring nurses must pass in order to practise in the United States. The NCLEX-RN is formatted as a Computer Adaptive Test (CAT), meaning that the questions are modified according to how well or how poorly you are answering them. Because the computer adapts the test to your individual performance, every nurse will write a different kind of NCLEX-RN. This also means that the test could consist of anywhere between 75-and 145 questions. No matter what, the exam will terminate after five hours of testing, and you will be issued either a pass or a fail report (no scores).
